You love God.
You want to be close to Him. But lately? Your Bible feels like just another book, and your quiet time feels more like a chore than a lifeline.
If youāve ever felt spiritually dry, you are not alone. So many of usāespecially Christian women juggling life, ministry, work, and familyāhit seasons where we feel distant from God or disconnected from the Word.
But hereās the beautiful truth: God has not moved. And Heās ready to meet you right where you are, even in the dryness. The Word of God is still alive, still active, and still the well that never runs dry.
Letās talk about how to refresh your soul and reignite your passion for Scripture again.
Spiritual dryness is a seasonānot a sentence. And it doesnāt mean youāre a bad Christian.
David, the man after Godās heart, cried out in
Psalm 63:1:
"O God, You are my God; earnestly I seek You; my soul thirsts for You, my flesh longs for You in a dry and weary land without water."
Even the faithful have dry days. So instead of guilt, respond with grace. Recognize the dryness, name it, and bring it before the Lord.
When Bible study becomes another item on your to-do list, it can start to feel lifeless. But what if we stopped approaching it as an obligationāand started treating it as a conversation with the One who loves us?
Try this:
Before opening your Bible, ask: āLord, what do You want to show me today?ā
Donāt chase checklists. Chase intimacy.
Choose passages that speak to your season (Psalms, John, Isaiah).
If you need help knowing where to begin, my From Study to Surrender 60-Day Study gently guides you through the Gospel of Johnāone chapter at a timeāso you can rediscover the beauty of Scripture with purpose and depth.
Dryness often comes when weāre skimming Scripture instead of soaking in it.
Thatās why I developed the F.I.R.E. Method, designed to help you dig deep without getting overwhelmed:
Focus ā Pick a short passage or a single chapter.
Investigate ā Whatās the context? Whoās speaking? Whatās happening?
Reflect ā How does this speak to your life right now?
Engage ā Respond through prayer, journaling, worship, or action.
This method helps you slow down and actually meet God in His Wordānot just read about Him.

Sometimes, the smallest changes make the biggest difference. Make your Bible study space feel sacred:
Light a candle or play soft worship music.
Grab your favorite drink and a cozy blanket.
Use a journal to write out prayers or Scriptures.
The goal isnāt aestheticsāitās intentionality. Youāre setting aside space to encounter God.
If youāre a visual or creative type, you might even incorporate Bible journaling, doodles, or color-coded notes as a form of worship.

You donāt have to manufacture passion. Ask the Giver of life to reignite it within you.
Pray something like:
āHoly Spirit, breathe fresh wind into my time in the Word. Open my eyes. Stir my heart. Help me fall in love with Scripture all over again.ā
The same Spirit who inspired the Word now lives in youāand He loves revealing Jesus through every page.
Dry seasons donāt last forever. But they can still bear fruit when we press in and seek God honestly. The Word of God is not a textbookāitās a love letter. And Heās still speaking.
If you need a clear path to help you study the Bible with purpose, depth, and renewed fire, I invite you to join me in From Study to Surrenderāa 60-day journey through the Gospel of John using the F.I.R.E. Method. Itās gentle, guided, and designed to help you reconnect with God deeply.
